F.A.Q's.

1.      What is hypnosis ?

Hypnotic trance is a natural state.  It is achieved when the body is deeply relaxed and the mind is awake in a heightened state of awareness.  Mild hypnosis actually occurs to most people several times a day. Day dreaming or when engrossed in a good film or book can both lead to hypnotic states.

2.      What happens in the hypnotherapy session ?

I begin all treatment with an assessment of your situation and the goals you want to achieve, taking into account your current life circumstances.  This helps me gain a fuller picture of you and how therapy should be tailored to your individual needs.

Hypnosis itself works very much like a guided meditation.  I use verbal prompts and ask you to visualize particular scenes and images, which help you relax and bring the subconscious to the fore.  All this takes place while you sit comfortably in a chair.

3.      Can people get stuck in hypnosis ?

No, this is not possible.  Hypnosis is a natural, normal state of mind and in fact everyone experiences hypnosis when close to sleep, both first thing in the morning and last thing at night.  Like sleep, it is a state which you move through in cycles – not one which can become permanent.

4.      Does the therapist have control over me during Hypnosis ?

NO… During any hypnotherapy session, you can hear all that is said to you and you remain in control at all times..  You may not remember everything immediately when you come out of trance as your brain filters through the information but as the days go by more and more information return as the positive suggestions take shape.

5.       How many sessions will be needed ?

This depends on the particular goal(s) you want to achieve.  To quit smoking, for example, will very often take just 1 or 2 sessions.  However, for a more complex issue, such as depression or anxiety management, it’s advisable to attend a number of sessions over a period of weeks.  In our first session, I will let you know how many follow-ups I estimate you’ll need.  The decision is then yours.

6.      How much will it cost ?

All new clients are invited to attend a FREE (non obligatory) consultation when full details of your requirements and goals can be discussed.

Treatment sessions can last between 1 hour and 1-3/4 hours depending on the situation.

Most treatments are £50 per session.

Smoking Cessation is £70 per session or £120 for two sessions if booked and paid for in advance. (Probably less than most people spend on a month’s cigarettes.)
